Halloween Parade

Oct 30th and starts at Whole Foods Market with a kids fair before the parade. The Kids fair starts at 9:30am, with the parade beginning at 10:30am. The parade route goes from the WFM parking lot up Memorial Rd and across South Main St to LaSalle Rd. Merchants will have orange signs in their windows alerting the trick or treaters which businesses have treats for them.

Cafe items will also be available for purchase. Signing will begin promptly at 9:30 am and will last for 1 hour. Tickets will be given out beginning at 8:00 am on October 30th at the store location.

Penwood State Park Trail Clean-up Day with NEMBA!

Join NEMBA and REI as we spend a day on the trails at Penwood State Park in Bloomfield! This is your chance to help maintain these beautiful biking and hiking paths! The Connecticut New England Mountain Bike Association (CT NEMBA) is heading out to maintain the beautiful trails of Penwood State Park, but can't do it alone. We need your strength and kindness to join us as we "get dirty" to "clean up" the trails! Participants will be divided into groups lead by experienced NEMBA Trail Ambassadors. Projects will include clearing natural debris across routes, redefining confusing side paths and maybe even rebuilding some sections of trail! Bring your family, friends, youth groups and neighbors! There will be jobs for all ages. Registration will begin at 9:30am in the parking lot at the entrance off of Rt. 185 in Bloomfield. Groups will leave to hike to their project areas by 10:30am. Performance t-shirts available from REI while supplies last. Please bring your own gloves and dress appropriate for outdoor work. Boots and layers are encouraged. Pizza lunch will be provided by the Flatbread Company in Canton.

FRWA and REI's 3rd Annual Wild & Scenic Film Festival

The Farmington River Watershed and REI are pairing up again for the 3rd Annual Wild & Scenic Environmental Film Festival to be held at the Ethel Walker School in Simsbury, CT. This will be an evening of fun prizes, thrilling and educational films and inspirational moments. The Wild & Scenic Environmental Film Festival is a nationally touring festival and includes films from Curt Ellis (“King Corn” 2007) and Seth Warren (“Oil + Water” 2007). All proceeds go to help the continuing efforts of the Farmington River Watershed Association to protect and preserve the resources within the watershed.
